Your stories are yours to keep—and yours to share.

familiar is designed around a simple promise: family connections do not open your archive. You choose each memory you share.

At a glance

What happens to a memory

  1. 01
    You send it privately

A story, photo, or voice note arrives in your bot chat.

  2. 02
    familiar understands it

AI helps describe it and make it findable later.

  3. 03
    You stay in control

Relatives see nothing unless you choose and confirm a share.

01

The short version

Your private Telegram chat has its own memory space. When you ask familiar a question, it looks only in that space. Another person cannot search it, even after you connect as family.

Connected is not the same as shared.

A connection lets two people exchange private questions and replies. A relative sees a saved memory only when its owner chooses that memory and confirms the share.

02

What is saved

familiar saves the messages, photo descriptions, voice transcripts, and details needed to find the memories you send. It also keeps your Telegram name and account identifier so your memories return to the right private chat.

To keep the conversation natural, familiar also keeps a private conversation record for your bot chat. It can include your messages, familiar's replies, and the memory excerpts it used to answer you. A separate small record remembers where you are in onboarding and whether a photo is waiting for your description. Both belong only to your Telegram account and are not shared with relatives.

When you send a photo, you can reply to familiar's prompt with text or a voice note. That description is added to the same photo memory so it can be found later. Signed-in dashboard photos are fetched privately from Telegram and are never made into public links.

If you sign in on the website, familiar keeps the account and session information needed to keep you signed in. Google sign-in receives only your basic profile and email; it does not ask for Gmail, Drive, Calendar, or your other Google content. Sending/auth in the bot lets you confirm which private Telegram chat your Google dashboard should open.

The Easy Read and audio-language choices are remembered in your browser. Listening to the guide plays an audio file already on the website; it does not record you or send a new request to AI.

03

Sharing with family

Family invitations are private, work once, and expire after seven days. Accepting one does not share either person's memories.

  • A family question shows who sent it and is delivered by familiar.
  • The person replying sees a preview before their answer is sent.
  • Saving that reply as a personal memory is a separate choice.
  • /memory #1 lets you keep a memory for your answers, make it archive only, or choose who may see that one story.
  • /share #1 | Granddad is a shortcut for sharing only the memory you chose after confirmation.
  • Shared memories stay out of the recipient's own archive and AI answers.

/unshare #1 | Granddad removes that memory from Granddad's future /shared list. It cannot erase a copy already delivered as a Telegram message.

Local bot computer

Receives Telegram updates. Photos and voice notes are downloaded there before AI processing.

These providers may process information outside your country. Gemini's treatment of submitted data depends on the API service tier used by the deployed project.

05

How long things stay

Website sessions last up to 30 days and can refresh while you use the site. Saved memories, private AI conversations, search information, and downloaded media do not currently expire automatically. Long conversations may be shortened into a summary for future replies, but the underlying conversation record can remain.

Reply drafts are cleared when you keep them private or choose not to save them. Disconnecting a relative removes the connection, outstanding prompts, and active memory shares. It does not delete either person's private memories.

A current limitation

Deleting a Telegram message does not automatically delete a memory already saved by familiar. You can remove a saved memory with /forget, but that does not currently erase excerpts already present in the private AI conversation record. Self-service account deletion, conversation deletion, an automatic media-cleanup schedule, and a public privacy contact are not yet available. Do not send information you may need removed on a guaranteed timetable.

06

Your choices

  • Choose what you send and what becomes a saved memory.
  • Remove an individual saved memory and its search entry with /forget.
  • Preview a family reply before sending or remembering it.
  • Share one memory, stop sharing it, or disconnect a relative.
  • Block the bot or sign out of the website whenever you want.
  • Avoid sending passwords, payment details, identity numbers, or regulated records.
